Portugal investment news – Bosch will invest EUR 1 billion by 2030 in Portugal, Sweden & Germany that are part of their European network for the development and production of heat pumps.
Bosch has chosen Portugal for the location of its heat pump development center for southern Europe and has just announced an investment of EUR 100 million by 2026 in a new industrial plant in Aveiro, in Central Portugal.
German conglomerate Bosch, that is a multinational engineering company, is investing massively in the production of heat pumps and intends to ramp up production in Portugal, Sweden & Germany.

Bosch Portugal registered a turnover of more than EUR 2 billion euros in 2022. Globally, Bosch registered a turnover of EUR 88.2 billion in 2022 and employs a workforce of around 421,000 people.
Why has Bosch chosen to invest in Portugal?
Since Bosch Portugal has been developing technologies and producing water heaters in Aveiro for many years, the conglomerate has chosen Portugal for the location of its heat pump development center for southern Europe. Bosch Portugal exports to more than 40 countries and has a market share of 90% in Portugal.
In Portugal, Bosch is investing in new laboratories, in two buildings and in additional heat pump production lines since these are a fundamental component of carbon-neutral buildings that are in line with the Bosch tagline “Make home comfort green.” The Bosch industrial plant in Aveiro will manufacture outdoor and indoor units for its next generation heat pumps, namely the Compress 5800i AW and Compress 6800i AW.
How many people does Bosch Portugal employ?
Bosch has opened its first industrial plant in Portugal in 1911 and now has factories in Braga in northern Portugal and in Aveiro in Central Portugal, as well as a service center in Lisbon employing more than 6,600 people. Bosch Portugal, that already employs 1,200 people in its Aveiro industrial plant, will increase its workforce by hundreds of people.
