Portugal investment news – A consortium of Spanish and Portuguese companies was awarded a contract of EUR 379 million for Portugal’s new Rubi metro line in Porto.

Porto’s new Rubi metro line will be built by a consortium of Spanish and Portuguese companies, namely Alberto Couto Alves ACA that is a Portuguese company based in northern Portugal, FCC Construcción that is a Spanish company based in Barcelona, and Contratas y Ventas that is a Spanish company based in the Asturias in north-western Spain.

Portugal will be investing a total amount of EUR 435 million for Porto’s new Rubi metro line, that will be funded under the NextGeneration EU Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Porto’s new Rubi metro line will include a new bridge over the Douro river, which will be named D. Antónia Ferreira, who was a 19th century Portuguese businesswoman in the Porto wine sector.

Porto’s new Rubi metro line will extend to 6.4 kilometers with eight stations, connecting Casa da Música, in Porto, to Santo Ovídio, in Vila Nova de Gaia, via a dream bridge. Porto’s new Rubi metro line is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
