Portugal news - Exports from Portugal’s Food and Beverage industry registered a growth of 10.64% for the first five months of 2024, according to FIPA.
The largest contributor to Portugal’s manufacturing industry is the Food and Beverage industry with a turnover of 22.4 billion euros and gross added value of 3.8 billion euros.
Export figures from Portugal’s Food and Beverage industry show a high growth rate with sales reaching 3.345 billion euros, according to the latest data from Portugal’s statistics office INE. Portugal’s main Food and Beverage industry markets are in the EU that accounts for exports reaching 2.241 billion euros.
In Portugal, the sector that employs the most people within the manufacturing industry is the Food and Beverage sector that generates over 112,000 direct jobs and around 500,000 indirect jobs, while the country’s main agri-business manufacturing plants are located inland.
Portugal’s trade deficit for the Food and Beverage industry decreased for the first five months of 2024 and now stands at 7.27%. The 2024 figures for Portugal’s Food and Beverage sector highlight the increased potential for the country's food self-sufficiency.
