Portugal investment news – The parent company of Blip Portugal, Flutter Entertainment Plc, just got listed on the NYSE as the world’s leading online sports betting and gaming operator.

 

To the sound of the iconic bell ringing ceremony, Flutter Entertainment just announced its Initial Public Offering on the New York Stock Exchange. Flutter's shares will trade on the NYSE under the symbol "FLUT" and on the LSE under the symbol "FLTR". The NYSE listing will give Flutter and the companies of the group, that include Blip Portugal, access to the world’s deepest and most liquid capital markets to fuel the next stage of growth.

 

Portuguese company Blip, that is based in Porto, is a cutting-edge tech company that operates in the field of sports betting and gaming. Blip is part of the group Flutter Entertainment and is an essential piece of the business operations, delivering entertainment websites, mobile apps, and retail systems to over 10.6 million monthly customers globally. Blip Portugal currently employs more than 600 people working on software engineering solutions for the betting industry.  

 

As part of the Flutter Entertainment Group, a FTSE 100 company that employs 21,500 people, and that is a member of the API Billionaires Club, Blip Portugal has access to over 100 markets that represent £7.7 billion in annual revenues.  

 

The successful Portuguese tech company, Blip, was born in Porto at the UPTEC Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto in 2009. The company first focused on the development of technology and software for web and mobile platforms. In 2012, the company was acquired by the British company Paddy Power Betfair, that is now Flutter Entertainment with headquarters in Dublin.

 

Representing Blip Portugal at the traditional and emblematic bell ringing ceremony that marks the start of trading on Wall Street, the General Manager of Blip Portugal, Sara Sousa, stated: "Everyone, the entire team, is represented at the famous balcony when the bell rings.” The ceremony highlights 15 years of history that Blip Portugal celebrates this year.

 

Portugal’s gaming and entertainment tech hub is growing rapidly, providing video game development, mobile gaming, and augmented reality solutions, as well as visual effects and gambling software for international companies such as US companies PTW and Fortis Games, French company Miniclip, Polish company Testronic, British company Kwalee, and Maltese company Evolution that have all chosen Portugal as a tech hub for their global expansion.
