The Sines Tech Innovation and Data Center Hub was launched in 2019 and the EllaLink submarine cable which connects Fortaleza in Brazil to Europe was launched on June 1, 2021. Two more data centers are already planned in Sines, that is set to become a communications gateway to Europe, with the new Facebook subsea cable as well as the Google subsea cable Nuvem that is expected to be operational in 2026.
