Portugal football news - Portugal will hold the World Cup 2030, together with Spain and Morocco.

FIFA has just announced that the World Cup 2030 inaugural games will be played in South America, before being played in Portugal, Spain and Morocco.

The World Cup 2030 is the centenary of the world football championships, which is why it will be played in 6 countries on three continents.

The inaugural games will will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, starting in Montevideo in South America, where it all began, as a way to celebrate the centenary of the competition, since the first World Cup took place in Uruguay in 1930.

Portugal’s Prime Minister, António Costa, has stated that "it will certainly be a World Cup of enormous success."

For Portugal’s President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the announcement that the 2030 World Cup will be jointly organized by Portugal, Spain and Morocco "exceeds expectations, because it has gone from a European candidacy to a European, African and South American candidacy, connecting countries that have a common history".
