
Portugal news - Portuguese aquaculture startup SEAentia raises 16 million euros capital from the Indico Blue fund belonging to Indico Capital Partners. The startup will not only benefit from the Indico Blue Fund, that is a 50-million-euro fund focused on the blue economy, but also from the Mar2030 Program that may be increased by a further eight million euros.
The Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, and the French President, Emmanuel Macron, are signing this investment agreement in Portuguese aquaculture startup SEAentia on the 28th of February 2025, during the Portugal-France economic seminar as the Mar2030 Program is cofinanced by the EU under the Portugal 2030 program. The investment will lead to the construction of an aquaculture facility in the Port of Peniche, in Leiria that is located in Central Portugal, that will have a production capacity of 700 tons per year.
SEAentia is a Portuguese startup that specializes in croaker fish aquaculture using pioneer Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) technology located on land.
This new investment in sustainable aquaculture will contribute to food sustainability in the EU, while the innovative food product will be free from antibiotics, will reduce the carbon footprint, will have traceability, and will be of high-quality while ensuring food security.
