Portugal news - Portuguese drones are about to be a game-changer in the Ukraine war. Portuguese company Tekever, that is Europe’s leading manufacturer of surveillance drones, is about to provide essential support for military operations in Ukraine.

Tekever drones have Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capacity that provides a strategic advantage for extended aerial operations in difficult terrain conditions. Real-time intelligence as a service is a game-changer and Tekever’s AI datacentre will ensure that the right person will obtain strategic intelligence at the right moment.

The IT, aerospace and defence technologies company, that is based in Lisbon and that produces unmanned aerial systems and satellites, is about to deploy its surveillance drones in Ukraine to support military operations. The Portuguese drones will give an additional edge to Ukrainian military efforts, since Tekever teams based in Portugal will be working 24/7 to adapt to constantly changing field conditions.

The skies above Ukraine are yet to be conquered and Portuguese drones, that are the most advanced in the world, will soon be manning the Ukrainian airspace. With a length of 1.7 meters and a wingspan of 3.5 meters, the light-weight drones will provide real-time surveillance through cameras as well as optical and thermal sensors.

The Tekever AR3 VTOL is the smallest unmanned aerial system in the market with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) capabilities that make it possible to see things that are not visible to the naked eye, such as providing surveillance through cloud cover or trees with dense foliage. The Portuguese manufacturer is one of the few companies worldwide capable of producing SAR technology.

The Portuguese AR3 drone, that is especially adapted for Ukrainian terrain, will soon to be deployed in the Ukrainian skies under funding structured by the UK Ministry of Defense.

Advanced technology is a strategic weapon and the war in Ukraine will soon be fought with the addition of drones using cutting-edge surveillance technology to gain an advantage in the skies. The use of AI and drones in the military allows decision-makers to view live missions anywhere and Portuguese technology is about to be a game-changer in the Ukrainian war.
