Portugal news - Typical Portuguese products are displayed in New York by A Vida Portuguesa at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Design Store, located in SoHo and Midtown, from January 8th to March 10th, 2025.

 

The founders of Portuguese brand A Vida Portuguesa believe that objects are capable of telling extraordinary and revealing stories about a people and their peculiar tastes, about a society and its context, about a history that is, after all, a common identity. This is why A Vida Portuguesa was born with the desire to take inventory Portuguese brands that have survived the test of time, with the intention of showcasing the quality of manufactured Portuguese products to reveal Portugal in a surprising way.

 

Portuguese products and art are already a favorite with New York customers of MoMA who visit Portugal: “We have long been impressed by A Vida Portuguesa’s ability to celebrate the history of Portuguese manufacturing through a modern lens,” stated Emmanuel Plat, Retail Chief Merchandising Officer of MoMA New York.

 

“Our products are a reflection of the craftsmanship and tradition of Portugal, from the hands of local makers to homes around the world. We are excited to share this opportunity to experience the rich history and timeless design of products made in Portugal,” stated Catarina Portas, founder of the brand A Vida Portuguesa.

 

The launch event of the A Vida Portuguesa brand in New York will be on January 9th, at the MoMA Design Store in SoHo, and marks the brand’s debut of in the North American market, with the aim of bringing Portuguese tradition and design to an international audience. The event will include a talk about Portuguese design and culture under the theme: “Why Portugal, why Now?”
