Portugal news - Portuguese sourcing company Topbrands is set to expand to 9 new markets to increase sales from 6.9 million euros to reach 20 million euros by 2026.
Topbrands is a product sourcing company that sells mainly to hypermarket chains globally, reaching several million customers daily in over 2,000 stores.
Portuguese product sourcing company Topbrands, that reached a turnover of 6.9 million euros in 2023, is expecting to reach 10 million euros in turnover in 2024 due to its internationalization.
The company’s internationalization strategy is to take advantage of its connections with hypermarkets it works with on the national market, such as Pingo Doce, Auchan, Intermarché, Worten, FNAC, Continente, Aldi, Biedronka, and Alcampo to reproduce the business model internationally.
The Portuguese product sourcing company started its internationalization process in Angola, and is now set to export to Poland, Romania, Morocco, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Cyprus and Mozambique in the short to medium term.
In Angola, a contract with the Arreiou chain has led to an export market with 300 stores, for the sale of products for the Christmas season, including toys and games, according to João Saramago Tavares, CEO of Topbrands.
Since the product sourcing company provides not only procurement and global sourcing services, but also warehousing, handling and transport, Topbrands plans to invest six million euros in a new space measuring 1,500 m2 and in a second one measuring 12,000 m2, both in the district of Setúbal. The construction, that will be in four phases over five years, will lead to an increase in production area from 500 m2 to 2,000 m2.
The new Topbrands facilities in Setúbal will include around 15,000 m2 of green spaces for leisure and physical activity, to promote life-work balance for the 85 people who will be employed to work there.
