EU Startup News - Portuguese startup Lampsy Health, that developed an AI lamp that detects epilepsy, just raised 230,000 euros to expand to European markets, led by the Ageas Foundation, with the participation of Business Angels Susana de Sousa and Ellie Asgari who is a doctor in the UK.

Portuguese health-startup Lampsy Health, that is a spin-off of the Telecommunications Institute and the Instituto Superior Técnico, developed a lamp that uses AI to detect epileptic seizures with 99% accuracy and sends alerts to caregivers or emergency contacts.

According to Lampsy Health, 86% of nocturnal epilepsy seizures go unnoticed and the uncertainty and the fear of not being there when it matters most can make every night feel like a challenge for families and caregivers.

Lampsy Health plans to raise around one million euros more by the end of 2025 since it will be a key step to “moving closer to our goal of ensuring safety and peace of mind for all families living with epilepsy worldwide,” stated Vicente Garção, who is one of the co-founders, together with Leonor Pereira and Joana Pinto who previously co-founded Clynx Health.

Lampsy is now partnering with every single public hospital in Lisbon that monitors epilepsy, to ensure the highest possible standards.

Portuguese health-startup Lampsy Health was recognized for its innovation and impact in the epilepsy community and not only ranks among the Top 3 at the Shark Tank Competition organized by the Epilepsy Foundation, but also won the Youth Startup Award by Unicorn Factory Lisbon.
