Portugal’s metal industry represents around 30% of exports and is one of the most important levers of the Portuguese economy. Already, in 2022, exports from Portugal’s metal sector had reached a historical high with over 23 billion euros, that represented a 16.1% increase compared to 2021.
The Portuguese association Metal Portugal considers that the record export figures registered by the metallurgical and metalworking sector in 2023 are very positive, since not only was the absolute value extraordinary, but the year-on-year evolution was much better than that seen in the economy in general.
