Portugal news - Swiss company Beyond Gravity intends to become the largest space tech company in Portugal.
Swiss space tech company intends to invest further in Portugal and is planning to open a components factory in the medium term. Beyond Gravity produces space components for rockets, launchers, and satellites and 95% of aerospace missions have some component from the company. The space company’s main clients include the ESA, NASA, Space X, Airbus Defence & Space, Thales Alenia Space, and Amazon.
The main reasons why the space tech company chose to invest in Portugal are the availability of university talent, of innovative technologies and a supply chain.
Beyond Gravity, that already employs 100 people in Portugal, intends to hire 200 people in 2025 and to develop partnerships with universities and other space companies, including CEiiA and Neuraspace.
The aerospace industry is currently experiencing accelerated growth with the second space race, and the current commercial phase is making access to space increasingly cheaper. Beyond Gravity registered global revenues of approximately 383 million euros in 2023, that is 8% more than in 2022. According to industry forecasts, while there are currently 10,000 satellites in orbit, 25,000 new satellites are expected to be launched by 2030.
