Portuguese startups and scaleups are heating up with a flurry of investments, mergers and acquisitions, and exciting new startups incubated at the Unicorn Factory Lisboa accelerator.

1 - Musiversal
Multiversal closed a three million dollars (around 2.8 million euros) round in July 2024 to scale operations and fuel the expansion of the music creation and production platform's subscription service. The SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) round was led by Iberis Capital and included the participation of Lince Capital and Shilling.
Based in Lisbon, Musiversal is the world’s first virtual studio powered by a roster of world-class musicians, giving talented musicians stable jobs and enabling music creators to record music in real-time, more affordably and efficiently than any alternative.
2 - sqill
Squill has closed a round of seed investment worth 2 million euros, led by GED Ventures in July 2024, that will enable the startup to consolidate its presence in the US and expand its team. The Portuguese startup developed software designed to simplify the creative workflow of companies' social media teams.
3 - Sensei
Sensei's technology is based on computer vision, sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms, which allow the creation of a new store concept. Sensei opened the 1st autonomous store on a highway in Portugal in collaboration with Grupo Brisa, one of the strategic partners of the Unicorn Factory Lisboa Scaling Up program. Sensei has also strengthened its operations in Italy by implementing its autonomous store technology in a second supermarket in that country, six months after entering that market.
4 - Volt Games
The CEO of Portuguese blockchain game development studio Volt Games, Pedro Cabacoço, was distinguished as one of Forbes Portugal 30 under 30 in July 2024. The company already has over 2 million downloads and a seed investment round of 1.5 million dollars obtained in March 2022 that was led by Voodoo, one of the world’s leading mobile game publishers. Other investors in Lisbon-based Volt Games include Shilling VC, Aream Co., Sebastien Borget (co-founder & COO of The Sandbox), Chris Lee (Gaming investor), Rui Pereira (co-founder & VP of OutSystems) and Niall Curran (chairman of Copa90).
5 - Mediaprobe
Portuguese startup Mediaprobe has partnered with Impresa in June 2024, one of the largest media groups in Portugal, in order to improve the future of advertising performance metrics with media measurement solution for producers, distributors, and brands, that measure the emotional impact of content on consumers.
