On the warm flower island of Porto Santo in Madeira, the island is organizing the “Porto Santo NomadFest 23.” The Madeira archipelago is already well known by digital nomads and the island of Porto Santo is busy organizing the NomadFest that will take place on May 28th to June 4th. The festival is expected to build a strong digital nomad community.
In Lisbon, the trendy seaside resort of Cascais is launching the “It Works for You!” campaign. The upmarket resort expects to attract over 2,000 digital nomads in 2023. Cascais is already drawing digital nomads from the UK, Germany, Brazil and the US who meet in the town’s coworking spaces. Many of them use the new Digital Nomad Visa to come and live and work remotely from Europe. Remote workers who choose to live in Cascais have a high purchasing power, and they are equally divided into male and female. 80% of the Cascais digital nomad population are business owners, CEOs or senior managers.
Meanwhile, in Odivelas, that is in Lisbon’s historical area and is surrounded by pine forests and grazing sheep, the municipality has created an agency for receiving digital nomads. Odivelas created the AGINVEST agency to attract investment and foreign talent. The agency is working on launching a scheme that provides tax benefits and a business incubator for digital nomads.
