Portugal Business News – Zara has just launched a new coffee shop concept store branded Zacaffé in Madrid as well as the first Zara by Castro coffee shop in Lisbon, each with unique cultural identities, and a number of new innovative Zara coffee shops are opening soon in exotic locations.
Zara just opened its first Zacaffé coffee chain in its Madrid store with an exotic décor inspired by Mudejar architecture to blend a cultural and gastronomic experience. The Spanish fashion chain has developed an exclusive coffee concept store that draws from Spain’s cultural identity and the capital's Mudejar past through the vision of French Moroccan designer Ramdane Touhami and Art Recherche Industrie.
While Zara’s first coffee shop in Madrid, Zacaffé, is inspired by Mudéjar decorative elements, the Zara coffee shop concept stores in each country will have their own identity according to the cultural elements of the locations where they will be established.
While Zara’s largest store opened in April 2022 in the emblematic Plaza de España in Madrid, Zara opened its second largest store in the world in Lisbon in 2024. Zara’s new megastore in Lisbon includes Zara’s first coffee shop concept store in Portugal, under the brand name Zara by Castro. The Zara coffee shop in Lisbon is inspired by Portuguese gastronomy and art, where visitors can experience Portugal’s typical cream tarts, the Pastéis de Nata, prepared by the Castro Atelier, in a tribute that tastes of centuries of history and tradition through the vision of the Portuguese artisan tradition of Elsa Urquijo Arquitectos.
Zara also just opened a coffee shop concept store in Athens to celebrate Greek lifestyle the local way: with koulouri, coffee, and a table of traditional Greek delights.
Zara’s largest store in the United Kingdom is in London, in the iconic Battersea Power Station district, where the new Zara Café concept in London pays homage to the English tradition with tea, coffee, cakes and scones.
The Zara Collective coffee shop at the Mall of the Emirates represents an organic evolution of the Zara brand, venturing beyond fashion into a realm of multisensory experiences. It is a dynamic space where Zara customers not only enjoy coffee, but also experience the brand in a more holistic way.
In what countries will Zara coffee shops open next?
The Spanish multinational that owns the Zara brand, INDITEX group, has announced plans for the international expansion of its coffee shop concept stores with openings scheduled in Tokyo, Japan, and in Seoul, South Korea by 2025. The new Zara coffee shop concept stores will adapt the design and offering of each coffee shop to each individual country’s culture and gastronomy.
