Portugal news - Who will Portuguese Americans vote for?
At the Portuguese club in Connecticut, Portuguese American voters assured the Lusa News Agency that they trust Trump to rebuild the country they chose to live in decades ago, by curbing illegal immigration and high inflation.
One Portuguese American stated that any potential immigrant who comes to the US should come through the door, as they should, with papers, however this is not the case, and everyone is accepted. He added that this is not just happening in America, since it’s the same situation in Portugal where the Government is letting in a lot of people who don’t belong there.
A recent poll shows that 68% of Americans want a tougher approach to immigration policies, and Donald Trump has promised to deport millions of people who are in the country illegally.
Another Portuguese American declared that he is worried about immigration since he is “against illegality”, and President Biden has let many people enter illegally and this is taking away jobs from people who are there legally.
Republican candidate for President of the United States, Donald Trump, will have the vote of many Luso-Americans in the state of Connecticut because he does not mince his words and speaks a language they understand.
Portuguese Americans highlight the fact that they enjoyed four years of prosperity under Trump’s presidency, in opposition to Kamala Harris who was in government for the last four years and never did anything for the US.
When asked about Trump's problems with the law, one Portuguese American played it down and stated: “If I wanted a perfect person, I would call God. There are no saints in this world, and we all make mistakes.”
